Why the hell are there so many businesses that want to do nothing but separate you from your money? I took the kids to DisneyWorld. All of the people who spent $70 each to get in that spend a good chunk of their day shopping in the stores.

I worked in a casino, so I should know better. Those places are expert at separating you from your money as quick and painlessly as possible.

What kills me about it is that no one wants to pay reasonable amounts for good service. I feel like I'm always being overcharged, but as a highly skilled professional I can't get companies to understand the difference between my services and some guy fresh off the plane from India.

But now to the point of distraction. That's not a good thing.

Why do people like bureaucracy? Is it that they can't get their own work done, so they want to prevent other people from working too?

How do people stand boredom? I'm going completely crazy. All I have to do is just to sit here and look busy to get paid. I am utterly incapable. How do people take civil service jobs? What is it about just one thing that has them so interested? I always feel like life is passing me by and I'm dying just a little more.

Today I wish I was in Venice. Italy, not Florida. There may be other Venices out there, but I'm not interested in them either. At least not today. It's got to be better than Butters, NC.

How to talk to a Republican about global warming

For some reason, this environmental issue has become political instead. Too many people these days feed their own political views instead of challenging them.

If you're speaking to one of these people, ask them about doing something about the increased Carbon dioxide in the air. That's not a theory, but an actual fact. Throw in the idea of sending less money to the middle east, and you've got a non-political discussion.

If they bring up coal, ask them again about atmospheric carbon. Focus on the problem, not the politics.
